Introduction to Productivity Tips Videos
Transcript
Hi, Don Downs from RV Business Coach here.
I'm creating this video to introduce a new program I'm offering in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
As I record this, it's March 2020. And the world is turned upside down.
And people are scared.
We're scared we might get sick.
We're scared a loved one might get sick... or that we may even lose a loved one or a friend
We're scared about money
- Some people are getting furloughed, having to go an undetermined number of weeks without being paid
- Some are getting laid off
- Some are keeping their jobs—at least for now—but are being required to work from home
- Some have their own business, but don't know if it will survive these crazy times
And when we get scared, it's human nature to just want to shut down. Curl up on the sofa. Binge on Netflix. And hope this all goes away.
And eventually, it will all go away. But it will leave lasting impacts. Some of those impacts will be negative, especially if we're directly impacted by the Coronavirus.
But even if we and our loved ones stay healthy, we may feel lasting impacts from financial challenges. And our social interactions may change forever.
But we're not doing ourselves any favors by just shutting down.
Despite the challenges, these times are presenting us some opportunities. But to take advantage of those opportunities, you'll need to be in action. The more we can take action, the more we can take control of our own destiny, the better we'll weather the storm.
Let's think about this for a moment...
Many employers have in the past resisted allowing employees to work from home. They've felt that remote employees are less productive than those in the office.
But now they're being forced to let employees work remotely.
And that offers a great opportunity. Nail this, be productive, exceed their expectation, and you'll be in a great position to continue remote work opportunities when things return to normal.
And what would it mean to you to be able to work remotely? Imagine being able to take longer RV trips. Yes, you'd need to slow things down, work in "full time mode" not "vacation mode" but you'd have the flexibility to stay on the road for as long as you'd like. Maybe it's a chance to launch full time. Maybe it's a chance to take the kids on a summer long RV trip instead of paying to put them in summer camp. Or maybe it's just a chance to take extended weekends or short week-long trips. Imaging working from your RV at the beach... you could hang out at the beach a few hours a day, and work remotely during the heat of the day, earning income and avoiding nasty sunburns.
There's another opportunity here, too.
Normally, I'm a fan of validating your business, and getting a steady flow of income before you quit your day job. But if you're furloughed—or worse yet—laid off, you may not have that option. And rather than prostrate yourself and feeling like a beggar trying to get hired, you could start your own business.
Now, there's a lot to starting your own business that I won't cover here, but whether you're doing remote work for am employer or working on your own business, you need to be able to be work productively.
And that's why I'm creating this video series.
In this series, I'm focusing on overcoming the challenges of working from home.
And working from home can be tough. It can be lonely, and even more so when we have to practice social distancing.
It can also be tough to focus and to get work done. There are so many possible distractions at home.
And it's even harder to focus when our spouses and kids are at home with us!
So I'm sharing these videos to help you overcome those challenges.
Have any challenges you'd like me to address? Or maybe you have tips you think I should share with others?
Just email me at don@RVBusinessCoach.com
Alright, let's get started. I hope you enjoy these videos and find them useful!
