About Me
Life is too short to spend in a job you don't love
My story actually started before the RV Bug hit...
We had it all planned out... I was going to retire at 55, and we'd spend the rest of our lives having fun and volunteering.
And then I got laid off... and the stock market crashed. And suddenly 55 turned into 65... or later.
Actually, I was one of the lucky ones. If found a job relatively quickly. While in this job, the RVing bug bit. But I was earning considerably less than I did before. And after a while, I started burning out.
So there I was... Working long hours. Not feeling fulfilled in my job. Barely making ends meet (and sometimes even coming up short). And feeling a strong desire to go RVing. I wasn't ready to go full time yet, but I wanted the flexibility to be able to go where I wanted, when I wanted.
And then I figured it out. I realized that I could take the skills I already had and use them to create something new. Something that would help other people. Something that would solve other people's problems. Something that would leave me feeling fulfilled, because I would be using my skills in a way that helped others. And that those I helped would be happy to pay me, because I was providing value to them.
So I left that job and created my own business.
In all honesty, it hasn't always been easy. I've spend thousands of dollars and countless hours chasing things that didn't work. I've spent on programs that promised to bring in tens of thousands of dollars a month in revenue... and fell short.
I've laid awake at night wondering how I'm going to earn enough money to pay the upcoming bills. And I've wondered if I should give up and go get another "real job."
But it doesn't have to be that way. They key is to put together a winning strategy, and then execute it.
I'm not going to sugar coat it... running a business requires hard work from time to time. Sometimes it requires you to focus, and to say no to the temptations of short cuts. But once you do, the rewards are limitless.
